Gateway FPD2275W Backlight Flicker

I recently bought a Gateway FPD2275W, and I've noticed an odd anomaly... on the highest backlight setting, against a solid black background, I can see a very faint flickering of the backlight. If this setting is lowered even slightly, the flicker seems to go away (or become unnoticeable subtle). Has anyone else experienced this issue before, or could you provide any additional insight into this? Is this a defective monitor, is it likely to get worse, etc...?
