Hi all,

A OD by my house has this LCD for $279 (display model). Is that a good deal? Is it a good LCD? I like the FPD2275W but I've been reading about backlight bleeding.

Thanks for reading and replying.

The FPD2185W has a better panel than the FPD2275W. The backlighting isn't nearly as bad. I'd go for it! (Get the extended warranty though, they have their own quirks)

I agree the panel in the 21" is far better then the TN panels in 22" LCD monitors. $280 is a really good deal as these monitors usually go for about $500. I have the samsung 215tw which has the same panel and I like it for the most part.

The 22" does have horrid bleeding at the very top center, and the very bottom center, but.....it's only noticable if the screen is all black. If you're in a game or surfing the web, you don't even realize its there.

Of coarse I wish they didn't have this problem at all, but it seems to be some sort of widespread production problem

I just sold that display for 255.00 and bought it last year for 499.99!

It is amazing monitor IMO with it's main fault being that the component inputs are a little too dark.

Anyone have experience buying floor models before? It's actually another 10% off so it's $250. Still has the 1 year manufacturer warranty and I'll probably get an extended warranty.

Again thanks for the help.

The one I got was an open box from Best Buy. Buying a floor model?

Depends, the monitor has been out for over a year, how long has it been on display?

If they threw in an extended warranty and the 10% off I probably would get it, otherwise no.

I love my Gateway, and I bought this damn thing when it cost $599.00 at a local store!!! But I bought local because I wanted the ease of driving right back down the road if it had a few bad pixels or something.

I use the vga input to hook up another computer to, the DVI gets my main game rig, and the component-in gets my HD Cable box, toss in the S-Video, USB hub, and the height/tilt/rotate adjustable stand is pretty decent too. Picture in Picture doesn't hurt either, and it's NOT a TN panel. That's a plus...

Maybe next year I'll spring for a 37" Westy..... ;)

Floor models are fine. You can test the crap out of it while its there. Sure its probably had people poking at the screen for a couple of months and its probably been on for quite a while, but its nice to have a "What you see is what you get" scenario.

Like I said before though, make sure you get the extended warranty to cover anything that might happen down the road. Watch out for slow/buggy start-ups and wake-ups from sleep mode as well as the rotation sensor not working. Those are common issues that crop up over time with the Gateways.

I just sold mine on Ebay and it was a great monitor..Id reccomend it and that price is a steal.I paid$599 last December and just got$325 for it so thats a sweet deal there!!

Just got back from OD. They took the 10% off for openbox + $40 odd 199 Circuit City coupon. Out the door ~250 because of tax and CA recycling fee, can't wait to try it when I get home. It seems so much better than the 2275W, I mean adjustable bezel and everything. I hope there's no bleeding or whatever but we'll see. I'm pretty tempted now to find another one for dual monitor use.

Thanks all for the replies

Gateway 21" has an S-PVA panel
Gateway 22" has a 6 bit TN panel

I have the 21" Gateway and the picture quality looks great. Have it for over a year and still looks good.

Hi all,

Well, this monitor was everything I'd hoped it to be and more. However, I'm having a spot of trouble with placing and configuring the monitor.

Right now, it's in front of me at an arm-and-a-half's length. Brightness is at 65 and contrast is 45. Resolution is at 1680x1050. I'm getting...headaches from this current config and if anyone had any recommendations for optimal placement and config I would be most obliged.

Thanks.
