Gateway 2185W Problem with 1080i

I have a new gateway 2185w monitor. I'm trying to input 1080i via RCN cable box. It works but in the center and toward the right hand side of the screen, im getting alot of blocking...for example, if a picture of a telephone pole comes on the screen, i will see lines and blocks extruding from the right side of the object. If i change the resolution to 720p, it works fine. Any ideas?

I am using the component input of the monitor.

I could be wrong, but it sounds like a signal issue, not a monitor issue. The signal is greater on a 1080 vs. 720 stream. Try changing cables (poss DVI connection) and if that fixes it great, but I really doubt it's the monitor.

Hello, thanks for the info. I have tried 3 different hd televisions that don't have the issue; a front projector, a tube hd, and a rear projection televison. also tried 3 cables. It should support this resolution...i believe. it works, it's just a weird blocky problem......if i have a box on the screen, it has squares to the right side of the image has these little black boxes.
