Gaming within Virtual PC?

My girlfriend has an 800mhz iBook. She's frustrated by the fact that there are so few games out for the Mac. Its really sad to see her hunting down new Flash-based games to play.

So this Christmas I want to get her an external HD and Virtual PC. She doesn't want to play anything like Quake or other graphics-intensive games. She liked adventure games, like Syberia and whatnot.

My question is this: will games like Syberia play decently under Virtual PC on her iBook?

it *might* run ok at the very minimum settings...that ibook only has a 32mb radeon 7500 or 9200 and not a lot of memory or cpu power. I would look more into what is availalbe for os x if i were in your shoes.

Nope. IIRC VPC emulates generic video, so the video card in the machine makes no difference.

yeah Virtual PC cant emulate 3d so you're out of luck.

for the cost of VPC and an External hd you could get a decent A64 emachines box with an x600 graphics card after rebates, thats no monitor of course but im sure you have one available somewhere.

For the cost of Virtual PC and an external hard drive, or an external gaming PC, you can buy a whole bunch of these games. Most of them are awesome.

also everyone forgot to mention using scummvm to play old school adventure games from lucas arts like the dig, maniac mansion 1-2 and many many others which you should be able to find easily, and her computer will run perfect.

Yea virtual pc may work great for the card games built into windows..........

Yea search around as you can get some good games for the mac. Another option would to spend the money you would on virtual pc and an external hd and buy her an xbox360 or something. Hell for what virtual pc costs and the price of an external hd you could almost get her a pc tower to play some games on. I think in hot deals they had a bios star motherboard and amd chip for like 100 bucks. Add 512 ram and a semi ok video card, cheapest case and ps you can dig up. The only challenge would be factoring in a monitor but you could still pull of a cheap pc for games. I would check out the selection of mac games first.
