Does such a thing exist anymore? I just built a rig with an Asus P5QC with onboard Realtek ALC1200 sound. I have an X-Fi in my closet(the first gen one before they gimped them and make seperate models), should I use this instead. I'm not even sure if it still works but if there is a better sound card out there for gaming what is it? I'd like to fire up some Battlefield 2 with some EAX loving like the good old days so I'm wondering what card to go with.

Whatever it is, it's a CPU driven solution.

The X-Fi Xtremegamer is the best cost/performance and maybe only choice for hardware accelerated EAX/OpenAL audio.

Creative hasn't done much of anything since 2005, so the X-Fi processor is currently as advanced as it gets for PC gaming. Despite its age, it's still superior to practically any onboard solution in terms of features and input/output quality.

The first X-Fis offered by Creative were hardware only. They used the same DSP (the EMU20K1) as the "current generation" X-Fis.

Please don't suggest people go out and make purchases without a solid understanding of what you're talking about.
