Gaming Resolutions

5760x1080 / 1920x1080 on my desktop

1366x768 on my laptop

To all the people quoting steam... I'd like to think that [H] is a bit ahead of the curve compared to your average steam user. Also, it's very clear what most people will have: the cheapest solution possible. For a long long time it was 1680x1050 22" LCD's... now it's 1920x1080 21-23" LCD's... and before widescreen it was the 1280x1024 ones. I have a bunch of friends who are still married to their 19" 1280x1024 screens since they can't be bothered to buy a new monitor. They also don't actually realize that in a lot of games, widescreen actually provides more field of view. The concept eludes them.
 
2048x1152 on my 23" Dell. I love this monitor as I use it for PS3 gaming as well and it keeps aspect ratio.
 
Still using 2405FPW since 2006 I think. Would like to upgrade (for higher resolution and HDMI) but the damn thing won't die! oh well...

Can't imagine myself going anything lower than 1920 x 1200 for gaming and work.....
 
6144x1152 / 2048x1152 I gave my parents my old 1440x900 hp monitor and everytime I go to their place...I CAN'T STAND IT. I was so proud when I first bought it but it looks so small...like the feeling I get with 640x480.
 
I'm digging 2560x1600 on my 30". If my card can't handle it, I'll run it at 1280x800. Take a serious look at monitors that can do 16:10 perspectives - you lose a bit too much vertical pixels on 16:9 monitors. If you plan to do multiple smaller monitors... just don't with a set of 16:9 monitors.
 
1680x1050 is good if you plan on going Eyefinity with modest harddware. For a single monitor, 1920x1080 is what I recommend.

I beg to differ. I'll take my 30"ers over an HDTV any day, and I sold the best HDTV's on the market (Pioneer Elite when they were still in production) for 5 years. I watch all my Blu-rays, HD-DVD's and HD programming on my 30's, do all my gaming and moderating on them. There simply is no replacement for their resolution yet. Being in an office chair does not bother me a bit but obviously mileage is going to vary from person to person.

Don't get me wrong, I love my 50" Samsung HDTV, but it pales in comparison to my 30's imo.

Also, "Eyefinity" is retarded. For a bunch of gamers who supposedly care about graphics, you'd think they'd be more upset about the massive annoying black bars going throughout the middle of their picture. Talk about one hell of a graphics artifact!

Eyefinity has its flaws, not the least of which is incredibly high hardware requirements, but for FPS, Driving and Flight Sim and RTS gaming the tech adds a great deal to the experience. I can say that with over 6 months experience using it and then being without it when one of my 30's died. I do agree the monitor borders can be distracting, but for me the distraction lasts about 3 minutes before I'm so into the game my mind has already erased them. There again, this will be different person to person.

Of which the bezels isn't one of 'em...

If you ran one screen, beyond the side bezels is... nothing...

If you run three screens, beyond the side bezels of your exactly-the-same primary display are... two more screens of visuals!

If the bezels bother someone... Just look at the center primary display... The one you'd be looking at anyway, and the one the one using it is looking at as well anyway...

I don't run Eyefinity, nor have any real plans, although I once did years ago hope to get a TH2G... But people who berate people for running it just can't handle their own jealousy.

My desktop is two displays (just use one for gaming)... I don't constantly look between the two and "AHHH! bezels!" when switching between the two...
