How is the gaming performance at 1920x1200?

I assume you need an 8800 series card to even consider gaming at this resolution with all the eye-candy and some AA?

I'm primarily playing BF2/BF2142 and RS6 Vegas right now but will want to play Crysis when it comes out.

Am I going to be disappointed with the performance of an 8800GTX on a 1920x1200 display?

I guess with the Dell 2407 you can always run at 1600x1200 1:1 to improve performance?

Your experience and input is welcome! Thanks!

On my XPS Gen2 i have a nvidia 6800 ultra pushing 1920....seems to run most games ok, bf2142 requires a few tweak downs but other than that she can run it

You won't be disappointed with an 8800GTX. 1920x1200 is only 320 more horizontal pixels than 1600x1200. For comparison, this is similar to the jump from 1440x900 to 1680x1050.

i had no problem playing any game running an @1920x1200 with an ati x1900xt, except oblivion, with settings practically maxed. :)

FEAR is a different story though, even @ 1600x1200

I'm currently using a 1280x1024 screen (1.3 MPixels) and a 7900GS KO and my FPS in RS6 Vegas are around 30-35. A 1920x1200 display (2.3 MPixels) is almost twice the # of pixels and so I'm wondering what my FPS would be like in RS6 Vegas with an 8800GTX on this display.

I'm thinking if the 8800GTX would struggle to drive this screen in RS6 Vegas, then Crysis would bring it to its knees.

I really don't want to go SLI.

You should be fine with a single 8800GTX for a while at 1920x1200, which is really the resolution you want to be at right now if you're a game/tech enthusiast. Need a powerful rig to help the 8800GTX along but its worth it. R6: Vegas is the closest thing we have to a DX10 engine but I would expect better performance out of native PC DX10 games. Vegas was hastily ported from console ala Halo/Splinter Cell...so it runs pretty bad on anything for the PC.

Anyways, I was able to run 1920x1200 with maxed everything with HDR and 4xAA on an 8800GTS OC'd to 620/950 and Vsync enabled. Frames were locked at 60 for most of the time with the occasional slowdown/drop, but I think a lot of that was due to system RAM and paging issues (peak was hitting 1.6-1.9GB )

A single 8800gtx is more than enough for that kind of display. Hell, my x1950xtx (which is much slower) can play pretty much every fps out there at that res with 4xaa, 16xaf.

Not to mention a 8800gtx is so much faster than your gs that it's not even funny.Next time, why not just read the review?
