1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming and web browsing
2) What's your budget? 1200 tax and shipping included. will spend up to 1500 if necessary.
3) Where do you live? oklahoma
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. Please be very specific. only thing i'm sure about is a 5850 radeon
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? no, new build
6) Will you be overclocking? no
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have? 19 inch crt, will probably upgrade to
22 or 23 inch flat panel in the future. currently at 1024 x 768.
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC? within 1 month
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc. would like usb 3
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? no, will buy windows 7. not sure which version.

will be playing crysis, far cry 2, X3, racing sims (gtr2, race 07) call of duty modern warfare, shadow of chernobyl
Would like pc to last about 5 years, need some power supply headroom because i always upgrade graphics card at some point.

Can one of you gurus put a system together for me? Thanks so much for your help.

I don't have time this second to completely build something, but look into the i5-750 and a P55 mobo.

USB 3.0 - don't sweat it right as it's overpriced, go with eSATA for now and in a year add a USB PCI card for cheap

If your budget its 1200 maybe 1500, I'd recomend that you spend about 1000 on the pc itself than spend the remaining 200-500 on upgrading your monitor. Because in all honesty you could build a gmaing pc for 600 that would work at 1024x768.

+1 definitely include a monitor in that budget. You'll thank yourself a million times over for doing so.

I say keep the 5850 at this point in the game I feel the 5770 isn't good enough for the long haul from my research it's about as good as the gtx260, why get a current gen graphics card that is as good as a second tier card from last gen doesn't make sense in my eyes.

I'd go with Lt. Shiro's first build, minus the motherboard. Get one that's crossfire ready, that way in the future you can add a second 5850. Like this one, that will run two in 8x/8x mode and has USB 3.0...

And keep in mind that PSU deal only lasts for another 4 or 5 days. **You may want to order that before it's gone, it's a great deal.

For a monitor upgrade, that card will play fine at 1920x1200, so if you want to avoid upgrading that monitor again anytime soon, I'd get this 25.5" Asus

Else you'll want a resolution of 1920x1080 and then it's up to you what size to get, I got a 21.5" for $152 after MIR, which if fine IMO, but most get 23" I think.

Lastly it doesn't hurt to get an aftermarket HSF to keep your i5 running cooler. The Cooler Master 212 is only 30$ shipped at amazon:
