Has anyone tried FPS or real time strategy on a 3d tv (with the 3d enabled of course)
I am curious how good it is...

something like the mistubishi 60" DLP or similar

on a 3dtv, no... on a 3d monitor, yes.

Strategy wouldn't be all that great IMO (on a PC at least) just because of the amount of menus and buttons needed at times. It would all depend upon the game though.

FPS games rule in 3D, from the ones I've played (COD, TF2, L4D2, Wolfenstein). You get a bit of an advantage when it comes it aiming down the sights of a gun in 3D... it's hard to descrive but it's like the depth perception helps with accuracy a bit. As with any game in 3D, the more minimal the HUD is, the better off you'll be

It really depends on the game. Some games it works out much better than others for various reasons.

one more thing, I'm planning on building an AMD/ATI rig because it's gonna be cheaper... Do I have to go nvidia if I want to do 3d?

and thanks for all the quick answers!

nope.

although, it's probably not a bad idea. I like nvidias 3d only because they've been doing it for quite a long time and their software is very polished. They've put a lot of time and effort into it over the years and it shows.

ATi on the other hand is outsourcing it. It's good because anyone can make glasses/drivers to work on their GPU, but at the same time, it's a hands off approach for them. I really don't expect the same kind of quality and compatibility that nvidias technology has.

I could be wrong... take that with a grain of salt.
