I've been shying away from buying a LCD for years now. I'm still currently using a CRT, but I'm thinking maybe it's time to upgrade. This PC is used primarily for Gaming, with a bit of graphic design thrown in for good measure? Any suggestions? (Besides Viewsonic - I've had bad luck with them.) Thanks,

I dont have any negatives with my dell 2405. If i wanted a cheaper option go for the 2005. I will not buy another CRT.

Well, Hello Jenkins. Since You don't care for viewsonic, may I suggest a Samsung 193p+, or a Samsung 204T. Maybe a Dell 2005, or 2405.

Well I like my viewsonic VX924, it's a heck of a lot better than my FujiPlus 988-D. I think there is a lso a new 19" from Samsung with an 8ms response time, my friend just got one. I think he likes it a lot.

yeah, go with samsung. I just got a dell 20.1 inch. It has ghosting and backlighting problems. I'm currently in the middle of my 3rd exchange. The second one they sent was used and has a weird coloration problem (hard to describe)--I guess the only good thing about Dell is the price.

Thanks for the advice guys. Yeah the samsung 193p+ is looking real nice. Now, to just find a good price on one....

i loved my dell from the moment I got it and everyone that sees it cant stop raving and beggin me for it.
its just a 2001fp I guess i got lucky or that guy got unlucky.

the picture is immaculate. the input options are perfect i couldnt imagine life without mine.

I use a Samsung 930B and my wife uses a Veiwsonic VP191B v2. Both are great performers although I prefer my Sammy.

For what I'm doing I'm prolly go "sammy."

I'm looking for something with an 8ms response time and 1000:1 contrast.

So, I guess I'll just have to wait for christmas.

Hi,

I have just picked up a new DELL 2005FPW (vA02 UK built and no backlight problems. www.aria.co.uk) as it looks the business. I am a gamer and was interested in 19" LCD's before I actually bought the DELL. I used to have a 19" DELL CRT and that was great for what I needed.

The new 2005FPW is no doubt a great LCD, it has a 12ms gtg and 16ms normal response.

Originally I was looking at Samsung and Viewsonic 4ms LCD's which havent been out too long for my gaming but read many great reviews of the 2005FPW.

The majority of people said it was good for gaming and it is. BUT, in my opinion (I play Q3 heavily) you get no ghosting but do see some motion blur if you move side to side etc fast. I guess this is to be expected somewhat.

Anyway, I am now wondering if the new 4ms gtg monitors (TN) panels would not have this blurring. Maybe its just me and my settings which are causing this. I am using 1600 res with vsync enabled with a ratio of FILL (full screen).

I am kind of disappointed with the blur right now and have tried other RPG shooters such BF2 and dont see blurring at all. I guess it is purely down to the speed of the game actions.

I will keep this LCD but think if I want to play Q3 online then I need to go back to my trusty 19" CRT.

The bottom line is to consider the type of game you are playing. Real fast action then I would suggest CRT or maybe the faster 4ms gtg LCD's. (I cant give any advise on this as I havent seen them in action) but for BF2 types where the action is maybe slower then the 2005FPW is absolutely great.

eh dont dells use samsung monitors, just that they slap their name on it?

i think the 193p+'s a great choice :) i was looking at this one as well when buying mine but in the end i chose widescreen over ms time :p

193P+ is definately a good choice. I own one and I love it. Gaming, 3D modeling/photoshop or text, it does the job perfectly.
