I'm in the market for a pretty decent gaming laptop.

I've been eyeballing the ASUS G73Jh, but had a few questions.

The only thing that seems to be faster then the mobile 5870 is the sli 9800,260,280 setups, which would be great since I've always been a fan of nvidia, but has anyone besides alienware put sli cards in a notebook for a reasonable price?

Would anyone recommend the 260m over the mobile 5870? I've seen the bench marks come out higher for the 5870 but the 128 bit bus worries me sometimes.

Also do you think the i7 720's is a decent cpu? I haven't seen asus or gateway sell anything higher then this, but I would assume the quad core technology would be alright for a few years.

Also has anyone see a place to purchase the ASUS G73Jh? I know it's for sale but have yet to find common vendor(newegg, bestbuy, tigerdirect) who sells it.

My budget is around $1500 or as close to it as I can get.
 
Any places planning on getting it other than that? I'm hoping for like newegg.
 
I highly doubt newegg will carry it, unfortunately. Although there could be a possibility that the egg will get something similiar....but I haven't heard or read any news about it yet.
 
The g73 is shipping now, although I believe first shipments are already sold out. I ordered one today. It's incredible how much computer you get for the money.

Looks like you're correct. :) But it will still be at least a couple of weeks for anyone ordering now to get their laptops because they are selling like hotcakes, and ASUS can't ship 'em out fast enough to keep up with demand right now.

Anyone who is looking for a gaming laptop really needs to check this one out....you can't beat it for the money. I would have ordered one myself, but I just got my G51J-A1 back in November...of which I'm very happy with. :)
 
bestbuy for business is carrying it right now, but the tax kills it for me here in NY.

Also the A2 model with 2 hard drives. I'm tempted to just get the X version for $1400 and just buy another hard drive. Definately not worth it to spend 200 bucks for another 500 GB hd. Also it doesn't show a Blu-ray player on their site. Wondering if it's a typo or not, since the A2 model was suppose to have blu-ray as well.

Aww your right, I do remember somewhere saying there was only 2 models, with and with/out blu-ray and then everything else was by vendor choice. But Again things changed.

I like the cheaper price but was hoping to use the 12 months no interest at either newegg or BB.
 
Some microcenters had some recently for $1499, just no bag, mouse or 2 year warranty.
 
Yea, with sales tax I might as well get xoticpc.com's or similar. Comes out to $1641 and Xotic is few dollars more.
