Ive never owned a 'gaming' keyboard, but I received the Razer Lycosa Mirror for Christmas. I like it a lot, and it matches my death adder as an added bonus.
I highly recommend a side keypad over a "gaming keyboard". I use the Belkin N52 Gamepad (the current version is the n52te I think, which has blue backlighting). For one thing, a proper gaming keypad will let you make real use of your left thumb, as opposed to just mashing the space bar. The n52 puts a 8 way D-pad at the thumb (for some games its my weapon selector, for others it is a nade selector).
