Gaming Capabilities with a SFF?

Hey guys im thinking about making a SFF with Shuttle SN85G4V2 64 for my next box and running a Amd 64 3000, an 80gb HD a 9800 pro 128, and kingston hyperx Pc4000 ram. I was just wondering if i could game with this box even though its small. Would it run ok to play the new games such as HL2 and Planetside?

What about heat issues with gaming?

I have two SB81Ps (P4 3.2 and 3.6): one with an X800XT and the other with a 6800 GT and they both run at the same speeds in benches as their full-sized counterparts, so I'd say its exactly the same experience.

I'll build another when Shuttle releases a 'P' chassis for Socket 939 as I'm in lust with the size and ease of construction on Shuttle's boxes.

I just put together a SN95 with a 3500+, gig of corsair, 300gb maxtor, nec3500a and a 6800 and ran it about 20hrs solid at a local lan party so yes they game quite well

You shouldn't have any problems gaming with a SFF. The only problem I can see is if you were to try to cram a 6800 ultra in. Hell, you could run it, but you;d have to either mod the case or just leave it off.

Two slot cooling solutions just dont fit. But I wonder now that ATI is talking about big coolers on it's next gen if shuttle will come up with some way around that in future models...

What about an Aria with a 3200+ s754, 1Gig PC3200l 80gig hard drive, and a 9800pro? I just want to make sure this case will stay cool as it will be my home main rig and also my lan rig... I don't really care about noise level, I just want it to stay cool. So what can I do?

I've just recently built a SFF gaming system.

1GB Corsair TwinX3200LL Pro
9800Pro 128MB
WD 250GB SATA (Well, it hasn't come yet, I'm currently using a WD 80GB SE)
Lite-On 411S

It's quite stable and games quite well.

I have a Bistar IDEQ 200T with a 3.2GHz P4, 1GB RAM, 250GB SATA HD and a 6800 Ultra . I have changed the PS to the 250watt version and it runs like a champ...

Tree, that shouldn't be a problem. I doubt you'd have much issue with heat. If all else, just mod an 80mm case fan. The little box keeps up with the big brethren so that isn't an issue.

I also modded it out with a Vantec Tornado case fan, and a PCI slot fan speed controller. I then modded the controller so that it wouldn't take up my PCI slot, and I could still have access to it outside of the shuttle without taking the case off. I still gotta take some pictures of that.

if the shuttle's weren't so good for gaming, why would CPL, quakecon, and WCG use them for the tournament computers?

ive owned over 6 Shuttle's, no regret
