And I am not a fan A-DATA, I would go with Ripjaws or XMS3 for $7 bucks more.

it wasnt that long ago that g.skill wasn't highly recomended either. They have had very high user reviews on the egg for a few years now. I saw that hd to gwarren007 but hes in california and has state taxes and some shipping. I was worried how far over the $700 budget that may take him.

I'd go with the A-DATA Ram, there is a combo with the Coolermaster Case. This will fit his $600 budget with tax and shipping included.

RAM/CASE - A-DATA 4GB DDR3 1600 + Coolermaster Elite 335 both for $137.98 ($10 MIR)

OS/MOBO - MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit + ASUS M4A77TD AM3 770 both for $171.98 ($10 MIR)

PSU/OPTICAL - Corsair 400CX + ASUS DVD Burner both for $69.98 ($10 MIR)

CPU - AMD Phenom II X2 550 for $90.99

HDD - WD6400AAKS 640GB for $69.99

Subtotal: $540.92
Tax: $52.74
Shipping: $5.99
Grand Total: $599.65

It's an AMD build, so the A-Data should be fine (1.65v-1.85v). I agree, definitely go for the 640GB over the 500GB, since its faster. HG's build looks good.

Thanks for the builds everyone, I was looking at the build below and would it be worth it to just go with that, I don't have to pay shipping because I live 5 mins away from newegg and I'm willing to spend the extra 60$

i5 combo

$563.99

windows 7 $104.99

if you could get the extra money, it might be worth it to upgrade to i5 and be futureproof for a bit.
