Gaming @ 2560x1600

I can play most stuff fully Maxed on my 5870 on my dell 2560x1600. Just sold the 5870 and got a killer deal on a 5970. But I didn't pay but 75 more bucks to pick up the 5970. I just wanted a little more speed. I plan on picking up anoughter 5870 to run tri fire. I would have keep the 5870 I have now but it wasn't a refrence card as I'll be water cooling it all. But all in all for most games I think the 5870 was fine. I mean who the hell really plays cysis lol.

lol..oh Nick....guys like you crack me up... bless ya little cotton socks. :)

Not me considering my 6870 refused to run the game full screen, I had black borders on all sides no matter what I did, I googled for hours trying to find a solution, I found many with the same problem and there are lots of solutions but not a single one worked for me.

My notepad scratchpad notes from testing the 6870:

It's absurd that a game used as a benchmark for every major review of the past few years could fail on an up-to-date ATI driver but it does. The game runs but with ugly graphics due to black borders all around the screen. Every google solution was tried, gpu scaling, forced 1080p60 mode in CCC, forcing Crysis to swap between fullscreen and windowed modes, and many other things-- nothing ever worked even once, and consequently I couldn't even take MLAA screenshots for the MLAA thread. Figures.

Disclaimer: I only own Crysis to play Mechwarrior Living Legends. :D

lol @ Nick. See, how did I know you wore cotton?...yup im psychotic I tell ya.

Im really hoping the 6970 at least matches the 580 cause I want to stick with AMD for Eyefinity and the 1 card solution.

I have the 30" but I also have 3 x 24" Dells on my other desk. Only problem is I only have 1 5870 and I use that on my 30. So, when the new card comes out im gonna relegate the 5870 to the eyefinity setup for my stepson to play.
