Just killing time before I leave, and warning people. I ordered 2 xbox 360 games and they came destroyed. They seem to have become damaged in the UPS shipping. (I can take pictures if requested.) It appears as if someone threw a heavy box upon my package and squished it until it was destroyed. The discs are bent in half and the game cases destroyed as well. I've never seen such damage. It actually looks like a hammer was taken to the box and the individual contents.

Luckily I talked to a seemingly wonderful woman at gamestop and all looks well. They're going to re-ship them in 2 days time. Hopefully this time they don't get damaged.

I'm just curious if anyone else has had problems with UPS like this before? It seems FedEx has never damaged my packages, but UPS always seems to scuff up the boxes. The contents usually come fine though. This is my first run-in.

Thoughts? Opinions?

Person 'x' has had this experience with company 'y'. Personally, I hate UPS -- but others love them.

I'm surprised that they are going to replace them instead of making you send them back and waiting on any insurance... must have been some cheap used copies of something?

Have you ever seen the majority of people that work the loading docks at UPS? They REALLY don't care about their jobs. I have heard from someone that worked there that they have bowling contests with packages. If it's marked fragile they often times do their damnedest to make sure it arrives in a LOT of pieces. They kick stuff that falls. They loathe packing peanuts so if a box opens that has them, odds are it will go missing or become a multi piece puzzle. This is the information he relayed to us during a speech in a communication class.

Now keep in mind not all people are like that. And then there are delivery drivers like this.

My delivery guy is nothing like that. He doesn't care if my dog is out. If I am outside he actually asks where she is at. Rarely ever do I receive a damaged package.

I'm not the biggest fan of UPS. I don't think I've ever actually had a package come damaged, but I hate hate HATE when they leave my packages outside without even knocking on the door. I live in a nice neighborhood and don't worry about my stuff getting jacked, but it's pretty obvious that the stuff is expensive when it says it's a 22"monitor blah blah newegg all over it.

They left some expensive computer stuff outside my house once that required signature, and the receipt left with the package listed a "Dr. Porch" as having signed for it.

OMG , that video was truly genius. And the Dr. Porch as well.

I really prefer USPS and fedex over UPS. They are always complicated to get a hold off.

Get to when the replacements come.

That's horrible. Was it real?

Lol @ Dr.Porch too.

USPS is pretty good as well.

Really shows how much of a hurry they're in. :-\

Our UPS guy usually waits at the front door - instead of using the buzz number specifically listed in shipping information and confirmed with UPS.

If he gets inside the building he then walks to our apartment, leaves a note saying no one was home, and leaves.

Never knocks, never calls, nothing... Caught him doing this 3 times now and called to complain all 3 times, still stuck with the same dipshit.

Never had a single problem with FedEx or Purolator.

I once had a 52" Sony Bravia television get 'Lost'. It was on the truck when it left location X and it wasn't there when it got to location Y. Luckily, I baught it from Sony, and the choice of deliverer was theirs, so since I technically had never received the product, it was Sony's mess to fix. It took a while (over a week) to get any action from either Sony or the shipping company, but finally I called Sony's main number, waited an hour and a half for a manager, and he resolved my issue in 5 minutes. Had a new TV setup for next day delivery.

bad experiences with Purolator, UPS, and Canada post (especially Canada post ),
nothing damaged, just lost, i don't know what exactly they have to go through, but if i lost packages with all 3, how many are being lost constantly. Wii RMA, Tea, and movies, the online tracking seemed to stop as soon as it leaves the companies country (in some cases), and after that its a guessing game as to if or when your package will arrive, always pay a little extra for insurance when shipping out, its well worth the risk.

Purolator UPS guys never knock, or ring the door bell, i remember running to the door after i spotted the Purolator man outside my gate, he didn't even come in he was off before i opened the door, he just left a sticker on the gate telling me where i can pick up the package 2 hours away, so I went to the location stated o the sticker, and they said it wasn't there, i later found out that he left the package at my local post office which was not stated anywhere.

oh ya, and did i mention Canada post is the devil, the head honchos admitted to not discrimination against x-convicts, and had a guy with a history of burglaries deliver mail, and guess what.... he was stealing mail, no duh.

Yeah Canada Post is pretty shit. I've gotten transatlantic mail when I lived in the US faster than getting something mailed across Ottawa.

I haven't really had a problem with UPS until really recent. And it isn't so much a problem as it is a hassle. They haven't been coming by my apartment and instead just dropping everything off at the office. Now I don't mind that too much since my apartment office has pretty good hours. I've never had them leave anything outside. They have lost 1 package of mine but it was from Amazon so a quick 5 minute call to them and they resent it with free overnight shipping.

Now Fed EX and DHL I have had problems in the past with losing packages, leaving them all over the apartments, outside the office, etc. I won't buy from a place online anymore that only ships with Fed EX. I'm glad DHL has stopped domestic service in the US as well.

USPS isn't too bad. They'll either leave it in one of our community lock boxes if it will fit or take it to the office. At least they will leave a slip in our mail box if its in the office.

I ordered a 23" monitor from newegg and UPS was the shipping company that delivered it. I knew it was coming on this day I just didn't know what time. I came home from work expecting to find my monitor behind the pillar by my front door so it was out of view from the street. They literally dropped it off basically at my driveway so anyone walking on the street or driving can clearly see a 23" HDMI Monitor box in front of my house. I was pissed because it seems like they didn't even bother coming to the door to drop it off. It was in plain sight and view from the street. Luckily it was there when I got home but it has happened twice now at my house. Now I leave a note on my door asking them to put it behind the pillar so nobody can see it unless they come all the way up to the door. I don't understand why they don't just get the idea to put it there since its the only spot that is semi hidden from view. UPS is crap.

I've never had a problem with UPS, either receiving or shipping. I've probably received or sent a total of 100 or so packages through them - not a whole lot, but their success rate for me is pretty good so I still use them.

Although I was talking to a guy at a guitar shop near my girlfriend's house in Jersey and he said that when he used to work there, they would play catch with the boxes. Sounds like fun honestly.. maybe they were good and didn't drop / break anything?

I used to work in a UPS HUB. It's probably not a person that damaged your goods but the belts that packages run on. Sometimes when the flow was really heavy, belts back up, which leads to boxes piling up on each other, or sometimes falling off a belt (5-25+ foot drop). Both UPS and FedEx use belts inside HUBs, so this is just the risk you take shipping anything.

But I'm sure you also have disgruntled employees that break protocol. If they are caught, they are usually let go. I personally never saw anyone playing bowling contest with packages, and if they were, I'm sure they aren’t working there anymore.

As for drivers. I know that they are under a lot of pressure to get all their packages delivered, and if there's traffic congestion it only stresses them out more. Not that this is an excuse to do what some have been said to do. I only worked there for a year as a part time job, but never again.

UPS is usually better at delivering stuff on time then fedex where I live atleast. However, they never knock on the door, they just leave stuff in the driveway. In their defense 9/10 times they come noone is home, so I probably would quit knocking too. The driver that delivers to my area also messes up every once and a while, they give me my neighbors packages and her my packages. Might be a bigger problem for some, but where I live not a big deal at all.

never had any trouble with UPS, always ring the door and call before to give us a time interval. If no one was they would open the screen door and put it there to prevent it form getting wet.
