For a while I was downloading a lot of game patches. I was running a few lan parties and found it was nice to have a onsite File Server with patches. So I got a GameSpy account.
Now, money has gotten tight for my family. So as head of the household, I have to look at the bills, figure out what we need, and don't need. My wife doesn't bug me about any of my month expenses, but I am debating this one.
I don't mind paying the monthly fee, it has been helpful when I have needed a patch of something, and can get it from thier high speed servers. Prior to them putting in decent high speed servers, the only reason was to not have to wait in the queue. Now with my broadband being around 3Mb, I can get 2 to 2.8Mb off their servers. I know if I drop my account I no longer have access to those high speed servers, and have to wait in line with everyone else.
The only other time I use GameSpy/FilePlanet, is when I am searching for a server to play in a game like BF1942, BF:V, or SW:BF.
So is it worth it to keep paying $10 per month, or should I cancle it. Anyone have any opinions? Thanks!
Ian.
