I have an old game here which crashes after 10 minutes of play in Windows Vista and 7. It's called Jimmy White's Cueball World. I was hoping to run it in a virtual machine under windows XP. I installed Virtual PC and Windows XP SP3. I managed to install the game and the patch, but when I run the game, it opens and then closes immediately.

Do I need to install my video card drivers within the virtual machine? I noticed Virtual PC uses a simulated graphics chip. This is all new to me so please help!
 
It depends on what type of graphics accerleration the game uses. The emulated video card in Microsoft virtual PC is not particularly advanced. I don't think it will emulate DirectX 9, which is a really old standard.

VMware Player has DirectX 9 support. It is free as well. You should be able to use VMware converter to make your current Windows Virtual PC VM into a VMware Player VM. then it should just be a matter of installing the VMware Plyer guest additions.
