Ok. So, you've splashed out on an awesome rig, you've gone the extra mile and hooked up your beastly computerised mistress to your comfy noob-friendly living room setup and you've enjoyed playing COD4/UT3/TF2/Far Cry2/Fallout 3/Crysis etc. Now you want to be more social so you've gone out and got some wireless xbox 360 controllers connected. You want your friends to enjoy your impressive pc setup and not just fire up the Wii/PS3 when they come round. You've tried showing them GTAIV/COD4 on the PC to compare it to the console version but they didn't really notice or care.

There needs to be some gaming shit you can share with 2-3 friends round on the PC. So what's there to do?

Fifa 09...and ummm...

...this is where you guys come in.

Think castle crashers (on xbox live currently) or any semi-recent and decently fun game.

Avoid sport & emulators if you can.

[I know street fighter IV is coming out on PC too, but not for a while.]

Bionic Commando Rearmed.
Lego games if you're into that sort of thing :p

tbh I need these games too. ):

Nice rig btw.

Hey thanks a lot tuaarita! I just watched http://www.gametrailers.com/player/38356.html which is a video showing some of bionic commando rearmed's co-op gameplay, and i have to say it does look pretty fun! Thanks for the recommendation. I'll try and get some lego multiplayer co-op vids to take a look at too. I'm glad to see im not the only one interested in these games

Might be pushing the term semi-recent a bit far ilikecake :D

That's just it though, really there are not that many (new and awesome) games with multiplayer capability at a single pc. I guess unless it involves sharing the keyboard or having multiple keyboards connected there isn't that much of a possibility. Not everyone has gaming controllers for the computer either. :( In that sense, my hat is off to bionic commando rearmed for setting the mark atm. Has something been released which has gone under our radars?

Or is there anything up and coming with said features? One I already mentioned that I know should have this is Street Fighter IV.

N3mi5is - Left 4 Dead does actually have it, I'd forgotten! My friend came over the other day and we tested it out using his steam account, one on keyboard and mouse and the other using the xbox controller. Wasn't too shabby I have to admit - a little bit strange with the unplugging of the controller while the level is loading to get it to the right player slot but other than that it worked quite well.

pigwalk - I think the capcom shop has a download service too ($15 for bionic commando rearmed)

Kane & lynch has split screen (2 I have tried), Marvel Ultimate alliance is a blast with 4 players as well. Blazing Angels is awesome as well.

Guitar Hero 3 is great for 2 players (also is not in the above list)
One plays bass, the other lead in co-op mode, brilliant fun.

one of the serious sam games had 2 players on one machine, i think you hooked a extra mouse up and one used wasd and the other person the arrows, we tried it but i cannont remember how it played. might have only been once, but we all had our own machines it was just to let his kid play. other then that cannot think of much.

Guitar Hero Aeromisth, as well. You could also Do the old Virtua Fighter (yes, they made PC version), some Guilty Gear X, Worms, Scorched Earth /3D, or get some emulators going. Nothing like a $2k rig running a PSX emulator, adding 4xAA to 10year old Gran Turismo to bring back the glory days.

Describes my situation exactly! Had made various posts around wanting more splitscreen/multiplayer fun. xbox 360 wireless receiver must be put to use!

i dont mind emulators or sports.. hmm what good consoles have emulators these days? GC? PS2? 3? xbox360?

I've had a similar question but it was on 2 computers, still multiplayer but through a LAN. By the way thanks to the user above who posted that list :)

soldnerx himmelssturmer is a pretty good shooter if you like shmups, there is 2 player simultaneous coop that works with both controllers and/or keyboard. has quality graphics and sound, decent res with widescreen support, looks german but it's actually japanese dev. beware though, this game is brutally hard and it's arcade style. meaning there are no saved games, only a set number of continues and as many free ships as you can get.

i researched into that as it looks like a pretty good game but apparently it doesnt work with vista 64 when you have more than 4GB :S

Another vote for Worms here. Doesnt matter which incarnation you pick up. Nothing beats it for hotseat multiplayer action.

In Vista 64 you can lower the recognized system memory for applications I believe.
