I just bought a new system and I have two of these in it that are SLI bridged:

I am looking for a game that will really test these cards.

I have modern warfare 2 and the graphics are already maxed out and it runs great. It runs black ops good, but I cant stand the cartoony graphics on that pile so that one is out. What are some others? I dont really care what genre..as long as its not world of warfcraft..I cannot get back into that game, I wasted a year of my life on that thing lol
 
Crysis
Metro 2033

That's about it as far as pushing graphics cards in the last 3 to 4 years. Nothing else will really push a fairly high end card anymore. Not unless you want to go to NVSurround or Eyefinity setups anyway.
 
I've played all the crysis games on my last machine and those were good. Maybe I'll play them again for fun :)

Same with F.E.A.R...that series was great and cant wait for the 3rd. I'll check metro 2033 out
 
The games just aren't pushing modern hardware very much now. That's why we are able to drive these older games on three 24" monitors with relative ease off of just one or two cards.

What was your last machine?

Everytime I upgrade hardware, I'm obligated to run Crysis again at least for a few levels. I actually replayed the entire game when I got my 5870 + i7 860 (upgraded from Athlon X2 4600 + 8800 GT).

Metro2033 is definitely a must play if you have SLI 470's.

Some games may not demand as much as Crysis or Metro, but they look pretty damn good on PC.
- Since you mentioned the COD games, BFBC2 outshines them in the graphics department and takes advantage of Dx10/11.
- Dirt 2 (Dx11 features) comes to mind as a great looking game that runs excellent. It's still my favorite racing game in terms of graphics.
- AvP 2010 has some nice Dx11 features and looks great as well.
- Just Cause 2 is a surprisingly good looking game and has some nice nvidia specific features on PC.

I had a 2.8ghz quadcore on some intel mb. The graphics was a single bfgtech nvidia 8800 gts..it could hardly run black ops which is why I decided to buy a new system, dumb reason, but glad I did.

I remember I tried just cause 2 on my last pc and it was very laggy. I have it on PS3 and those graphics are pretty good. I'll check that one too.
 
That's true. I forgot about AvP. It definitely has a way of stressing the hardware in DX11 mode.
 
Shit, even WoW now requires a pretty beast video card or the game will look like shit imo. I cant even run every setting at Ultra and past 1x multisample with a overclocked gtx 260 (which isnt THAT old). Waiting for new intel cpus to upgrade anything.

What resolution are you running at? World of Warcraft isn't that demanding by today's standards.
 
1680x1050, WoW is very demanding since graphics update a couple weeks back. Try turning on max draw distances, max terrain detail, max multisample/aa, and all ultra settings. Brings my 2.5 year old rig to its knees.

I don't play the game. I've played it once for about an hour or so and wasn't impressed. This was probably two years ago or more at this point.

All of that artificially taxes the GPU though. It doesn't really make the game look that much better. The game still looks like crap IMO. You get to see more ugly stuff farther away. Obviously if you jack up AA on any game it's gonna tax the GPU heavily.

I was thinking the same thing. When I played (day of launch to about december of 2007) I was able to play with maxed graphics on my Dell XPS M1710 (C2D T7400, 4GB of RAM, nVidia 7950GTX, Vista x64).

I was able to play it on a TI-86 at medium settings and on an abacus at low.
 
ArmA 2 and try and experiment with Ambient Occlusion in the driver control panel.
 
They updated the graphics 3 weeks ago for WoW : cata. Which is what I was referring to.
 
The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games are always taxing it seems. I think it's really the size of the maps and the amount of stuff going on. It has to be as the graphics really don't warrant such bad performance. In each S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game I've played, the entire game always seems to suffer from ugly textures, poor animations, and generally feel badly polished to me. Many of the models are also damned near what I'd classify as having a low polygon count.
 
I've been replaying the STALKER games lately with my OC'ed GTX285 and the first one runs great except for some major stuttering issues (think waiting what seems like 5 seconds right outside of Cordon rookie village as you run there from Garbage). Anyway, Clear Sky kicks my GPU's silicon ass. I get less than 20 FPS without even maxing the settings at 1920x1200. It wouldn't suprise me if your fermi SLI couldn't bring that game to 60fps with maxed settings.

Dirt 2 is nice but didn't seem to tax my computer when I played it with my old monitor at 1680x1050, of course that is without the DX11 eye candy.

Good luck finding a truly optimized game that will tax your new rig.
 
I'll second Just Cause 2. Some of the shots from the mountaintop (and in the city) are pretty awesome. After about 2 hours, the game had some slight artifacts in really heavy scenes...so I'm guessing it was pushing the crap out of my HD5850...
 
I played metro 2033 a second time when I got a new video card. It is definitely a must.
 
alien vs predator looks great , yeah sure, this game looks like generic shit, doom 3 looks better

This is so true! When I got my 5870 (also upgrade from 8800GT sli) I replayed all of Crysis again and then jumped into some Mechwarrior Living Legends.

Metro 2033 will make your system bleed.
 
Doing a full upgrade and playing metro 2033 maxed within the next year is one of my goals atm. Can't wait to see 6970 benchmarks with that game.
