ok just finished building my new comp, installed xp, downloaded latest drivers, catalyst 5.2. Counter Strike and HL2 play fine. AA freezes and makes me restart, and BF1942 freezes then goes to the desktop. What is going on?

my setup:

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ s939
MSI Neo2 nforce3 platinum s939
ATI Radeon 9800xt 256mb
1gb 2x512 Geil Ram in dual channel mode
Seagate 40gb HDD
Enermax 350w PSU
2x80mm mad dog led case fans
1 system exaust under vid card

Got the latest BIOS for that motherboard?

I had probs with my NForce2 and ATI 9600XT. It simplky required an updated bios. I used MSI's update utility and it worked flawlessly.

ive also had this problem with an ati 9600 and nForce2 chipset. first i rolled back the drivers, and for some reason that seemed to work for a while....but then i installed newer ones that came out, and it started doing it again....so i tried my GF4 4400TI i had laying around....did the same fricken thing...so i didnt know what the hell was going on.....updated all drivers.....and bios....and everything worked, with GF4 or 9600....so ya, head for the bios update util. Its probably whats causing the issues.

:) :D

if so how i turn it down, the fan on the card works, and i have 2 other case fans...

That is very high!
Get an ATI Silencer Cooler for your 9800 (Dual slot cooler) and you should be fine.
I also recomend getting some Panfalos for your case because 2x80mm isnt enought for your setup.

ive looked around the most ppl say there 9800xt runs at about 70c, I replaced the hsf and get the same temps
