Games crash. Video card??

Heyo,
I just built a Shuttle system. Due to everything being in close proximity and having a heat issue, I don't have the case cover on so there is more airflow, etc. However, I was just playing Farcry and it shut off even WITH the case off (Only like 20 minutes if that of gameplay). Now, just the game shuts down, not the computer itself. This also happens with MOHPA, etc. so I doubt it's the games themselves which lead me to think it was the video card. Any help here?

System specs:
AMD 3500+
1 gig Mushkin PC3200
74 WD Raptor
9800 Pro AIW

try prime or memtest yet? whats the temps of ur CPU and GPU
 
Prime tests your GPU and tells you if it's bad? I dled ATi Tool to get the temps of my GPU, but I can't find the freaking temps anywhere on that bloody program. A little help?

Hmmm it could be a simple software problem, try to get the latest driver for your card, if it occur again try to borrow a friends graphic card and try.
 
Hmmm, well it seems I am in the same boat as the person that began this post. I just recently built my own rig (about a month and a half ago) and recently have just started playing UT2K4. However it seems that whenever I exit the game, I keep getting "bug" errors and end up submitting them to Atari and Epic. After I submit them, my computer restarts. Not only does this program do it, but also when I try to run DVD X Copy. When I run DVD X Copy however, I get a blue screen with an error reading something along the lines of "Computer_Machine_Exception" or something similar. I read on Atari's technical forums that with the latest patch the game has forced AMD owners' computers to restart after exiting. It just seems my computer is having trouble with more than one program.

I am not sure how I can find all the information on the current status of my PC, but here are some temp stats I have found:

System Temp - 37C / 98F
CPU Temp - 38C / 100F
NB Fan Speed - 5273 RPM
CPU Fan Speed - 4411 RPM

I have a 6600gt OC that I have not OC'ed any further, but for some reason cannot find how I go about chekcing its temp.

I ran a memory test, and it came up fine, not one test found any errors in my memory.

I have no idea what else to do, all of my drivers are up-to-date as well. Can anyone help me, recommend me something?

How do I go about doing these things? Also what will they do exactly?
 
For you (nVidia) download Coolbits and go into the device settings. There should be an Advanced option now with your AGP speed and Fast Write options.
 
Hmm...I downloaded the Forceware 2.0 file, but it seems I have no idea where to go from there.

Again, a bit of a tech noob.
 
When I update new vid card drivers, and when I am about to remove the original drivers, do I have to remove all drivers or do I remove all drivers except for display?

Is either a problem with your psu or memory. Try loosening the timings on ure memory and see if that helps.

If not, then try testing a different psu

Well... I ran Memtest... and let's just leave it at that. No, after five minutes I got five errors. Sweet, eh? I guess it's my RAM. My timings are 2-2-2-6, it's Mushkin PC3200 low latency with heatspreaders (black :cool: ). What should I change them to if they're too aggressive??

to test if the culprit could be other then your GPU.

your timings are fine..its just that you have bad ram..you need to eather get your moeny back or RMA the sticks...

i recomend Kingston HyperX

That's saweeeeeeeet. I got my Mushkin off these boards too, but who knows. I actually had Kingston HyperX (both PC2700 and 3200) but sold them. Now I have a stick of 512 Kingston Value. Well, at least we pretty much know it's the RAM. I'll stick my Value in there though anyway to check, but meh.................................. Thanks though dude, I was sure it was the graphics card. Heh.
