Hi all,

I just put together a new system containing the following
Asus A8R32 MVP DELUXE
AMD FX 57 ( idle cpu temp is about 106F )
ATI X1900XT crossfire slave card( idle temp is 65F )
2 gigs of Corsair XMS
74 gig WD Raptor
550w Antec TruePower 2 PSU
Windows 2000
Artic Freezer 64 pro
Accelero X2 vga cooler

I am having problems running the following games, BF2 ( games loads, map loads, while running, the audio is all F-ed up and the video shows a few textures surrounded by blackness) Some times crashes to the desktop

FEAR game starts maps and tests won't load or run
Far cry crashes to the desktop
Unreal 2k4 crashes to the desktop
3DMark06 loads and the test fails with an internal drviver error.

Oddly enough, Doom 3 will run just fine ... well most of the time.

I have installed the latest drivers and patches for all games and hardware listed above.
I am stumped. i have an open ticket with ATi and have only recieved the canned response so far.

Any ideas of things to try are greatly appreciated.
 
PSU? also your idle temps for your 1900 are high I wonder if it is either overheaing or just not getting enough juice.
then again I see you got the A8R I heard that there were lots of issues with them boards, just my thoughts

High? That's lower than room temperature. Your hand would actually get cold by putting it on that card after a little while.

Sure that isn't 65C?
 
not sure if the default reading in the Cat center is in celsius by default, if it is, then yes.
that is pretty hot if it is in celcius
I have done some more reading in another thread here i am going to try the ati tool and crank the fan speed up
 
It has a C next to the temperature readouts in the Catalyst Control Center, so yes. It is in Celsius. Yeah, 65C is pretty hot. It shouldn't be getting that hot. Did you try reseating the card?
 
I put an accelero X2 on the card and I will check to see if it running correctly.
 
I installed Xp and all is well. I guess that there was some corruption somewhere in the drivers. Thanks to those who offered your advice. esp. the install xp suggestion,
 
your whole setup is messed up. It's not just the card that you are trying to blame it on.

1. Get PC Power and Cooling 510 Deluxe or a Enermax Liberty @ 620

2. Update the chipset drivers for your Motherboard
3. clean the dust out your entire system with a can of air
4. get a program called SysTool from PowerUp and monitor your Voltage regulators. Put a fan on them.
6. For BF2 get the lastest OpenAL32.dll
setup!!!here
install it
go to windows/system32 and copy and paste copy openal32.dll to your desktop
rename it BF2OpenAL.dll and copy and paste it to program files/EAGames /Battlefield 2/
now you've updated your sound file.
