Maybe the 280x is getting crippled due to tessellation,or there is an issue with the number at 1440+

well i have a 2 7970s basicly 280x and seems newer games run worse on them drivers dont seem to ever fix or give perf boosts at all like they used to for older gens.

Or maybe they're running out of VRAM?

3GB seemed awfully huge when they launched, but there is no compression, and the 960 is the 4GB model.

780 Ti experiences a similar falloff at 1440p.
