Now for those who know me, I'm a diehard Desert Combat player with over 2 hours a night at least. I've found a game which broke the year long Battlefield 1942/Desert Combat curse once and for all.

Now here comes this game Zelda on a dumb little console and it had me thinking. "Why did it get all these awards? Why is it said to be one of the TOP 10 greatest games in history?"

With that knowledge, I picked up a used GCN and a used copy of Zelda. I set forth on a quest which has sucked me in since I started playing it.

I must have clocked in WELL over 40+ hours of gameplay and I'm STILL not done. I've seen some of the coolest shit, solved some of the most tricky puzzles, and enjoyed EVERY STINKING minute of it.

I highly suggest if you got a GCN pick this sucker up and give it a try. You will not be dissapointed. The game although does require patience and time so be warned.
Plus to add to that fact, it's VERY addicting!

There's allot of places that have it used I'm quite sure since it's been out for quite some time now.

I didnt think I would like it, and I played like 30 mins of it so far. My thoughts about it have changed, just wish I could play it more. No time.

Windwaker is probably the most tedious games I've played. Do you guys really enjoy changing the wind and sailing for 5 minutes every time you want to go somewhere?

No.

That's why you get that secret warp spell thingy.

Personally I love the game. But unfortunately it's fallen in the same slot as "Ocarina" for me. Bought it, played it feverishly for about a month, then "fell out" of playing it.

I still haven't beaten ocarina of time....

Ocarina was one of the best games ever, I spent the better part of a month beating it.

Sometimes it does pay in the end to know you BEAT a game. I'm hankering for a good game beat'n.

Ocarna of Time was good too. Same thing, you play it feverishly for a long time then WHAMMO something else comes out.

I think it was WWF Wrestlemania 2000 that screwed up my chances of ever getting time to finish that quest.

I was one of the lucky ones that pre-ordered and got the OoT/Master Quest disc a month before Windwaker came out...

I played through OoT again, then MasterQuest (actually was quite a bit more difficult)...and then finally got WindWaker. I was not impressed with the cel shaded graphics for about the first hour...but it grew on me, and now think that the whole Zelda universe fits that style of graphics. Sure, I'd love to see a totally 3d rendered game from the next Zelda (much like the Link Vs. Gannon demo shots from E3 before the GC came out..back when it was called the "Dolphin")...but the windwaker had to be cel-shaded...its damn near perfect for the story.

And to any of you that watched the intro to WindWaker before starting the game....you can't tell me you didn't get chills when it started the original theme as they talked about the "Hero of Time"...it was goose-bump city for me...

aye, i preordered before i owned a cube just for zelda
hehe
twas a great game, but not as hard as i thought it would be

The sailing was definately the draw back to the game, youd just be fucking sitting there for 10 minutes to get from one end to the other....yeah yeah yeah, there is a warp melody, but it doesnt take you everywhere, and when youre looking for those maps to the triforce pieces...SHIT, talk about tedious.

Other than that I loved the game, I thought the cell shading would be gay also but it did fit absolutely perfect, I couldnt have seen it (with the same story) any other way

I also reserved wind waker and got master quest, which I give them an applause for stumping me in one part. Wind Waker is awesome but I beat it in only 5 days. Ocarina had me goin for 2 months. If anyone hasn't yet I recommend playing Majora's Mask, another great zelda game.

I was the exact opposite....I spent probably 3 weeks on Wind Waker....but remember going all the way through OoT in about 14-18 hours over about 3-4 days when it first came out.

And yeah...still need to finish majora's mask....kinda hard going back to playing it when the graphics for OoT on the GC were so nice, and then expect Majora's mask to be as good...

Yeah i thought WW was a good game overall, but it wasn't very challenging... I died like 3 times while playing and did most of the puzzles/picto box gallery things. I kinda lost interest in it for a while, then just picked it up and finished it.

Just get the Zelda Collector's disc - Majora's Mask receives the same graphical improvements OoT did for GC.

I loved Windwaker but it was WAY to short. I was expecting to be as long as OoT but that didnt happen. :(

so another game getting your attention is the reason you quit playing after a while? my reason is a get to some stupid dungeon with a puzzle that i cant figure out, so i quit playing for a few days and become extremely confused where i am and dont know what the do next. im talking about the bottom floor of the wind dungeon. same thing happened with OoT, that was the shadow dungeon. I dont know, I always get to the end of these zelda games and then there is something extremely small that i miss, so i dont play for 3 months and then finally finish the game.

the shadow temple was stupid, I cant believe i quit playing the game because i missed looking at one fucking wall. Now that shit is annoying. I hope im not making the same mistake in the wind dungeon, ive been through every damn room like a billion times, still dont know what im missing....

but yeah, when i first started playing this game, i forgot the world exsisted. i was so emersed(sp?) i remember plenty of times that i said i wish i could visit a land so pretty. the experiance was emotional. GRADE A+++++

I didn't realize that....just made my order with the 12 month N-Power mag subscription...

Thanks Veras for the heads up

Yeah unfortunately.. first time playing I died 3 times... second time playing, i got through most of it without a single death :p One of these days, i'll pick it up again.

I'm a big Zelda fan, I have 100% beaten all the Zelda games, and loved all of them, but WindWaker was a disappointment, the main story was way to short and not alot of good places to explore. It just doesn't live up to OoT.

I just wish there were more big islands, cities and dungeons for the main story to expanded on, and also have side stories where you help out people like in Majora's Mask. It would have been cool if you had to go to underwater temples to get the Triforce Shards instead of just fishing them out. :(

Wind Waker rocked. I passed over the N64 generation of Zeldas (since I owned a Playstation), but bought a Cube a few years ago waiting for Zelda. I played it, and really enjoyed my time with it. Exploring all the islands, the slightly improved combat over TOoT (counter-attacks made combat so fun), doing the random stuff like getting statues made of characters/enemies in the game, I loved it.

I just received the collector's edition disc, Zelda 1 was tougher than I remembered!

Just beat it last night...

Can't wait for part 2 already. Supposidly it's going to debut at E3 this year.

The GhannonDork boss sucked yet I still found a way to beat his ass once and for all. I wish there was more to do although.

Does anybody know what the hell that black portal is for? I went in it and it went back up to the sea. Is there any reason why I should use that? Just curious.

Great game!!! Best game I've played in years perhaps. :)

Psyko M.

The black portal is used to exit Ganon's Dungeon, and that's it.

If you want stuff to do, you could always do the stupid things like have figurines made of everyone in the game.
