Add another engine to the Mantle stable.

http://gamingbolt.com/mantle-expose...-shares-many-rendering-codes-with-ps4xbox-one

Our engineers have been testing Mantle. Mantle enables us to share many rendering code for Xbox One and PS4 and brings many benefits even on PC like explicit Multi-GPU management. Also Mantle exposes more low-level features than DX12 as extensions. Although we are going to inevitably support DX12 as well, Mantle is definitely the key technology that we’d like to adopt for consoles and high-end PCs.

Bolded part is particularly interesting, it looks like Mantle will end up being more close to the Metal than DirectX 12. And it makes a lot of sense seeing as the console code is written for AMD hardware in the first place.

What im really excited about is what Rebelion implied:

Monolithic render pipelines, and Asynchronous multi-gpu rendering.

i would love to see skyrim with mantle support.. as the AMD cards work shitty with those games (Specially oldie fallout 3 or new vegas).. its incredible in those games how my 660TI (1333mhz) work way better than my 280X (1170mhz)...

i didnt have any issues with my 7970 on skyrim.

Nor do i have any on my 290.

But yeah, FO3, and FONV chugged.

That's pretty cool. I'd like to see TressFX 2.0 hair in Skyrim mods.

Quick, Unknown-One, there is some good news about AMD, and someone was brash enough to say Mantle has advantages over Direct X 12! You must make an appearance, make some off-topic remarks and then claim they weren't what you said!

and micro quote evryone out of context, and say i never said that.

and dont forget to inform goldentiger, and PRIME1 as well so they can get a piece of the trolling action.

lol

issues are unknown until you try it with a nvidia card.. vsync indoors its awful due to completely erratic frametimes if you have 60hz monitor its even worse with frametimes ranging every 0.5ms from 6ms to 33.3 even locked at 60fps you feel you are playing at 30fps or something like that.. at 120hz its really a good experience but 120hz in skyrim with 80+ mods its a hard achievement accomplish.. the best experience im having its limiting the frame rate to 60fps so i avoid the erratic vsync experience... locked at 16.6ms...

in the other hand with my 660TI im able to play at 60hz with vsync on and a perfectly stable frametime its another history in smoothness but its well known that Bethesda's games simply do not like AMD cards.. i had a hard time trying to play smooth Fallout new vegas with a HD6970... U_U

that would be awesome indeed.. Pony tail steam mod + TressFX =D great..

I'm distraught. What this news really means is that the new Fallout and Elder Scrolls games are going to still be on Gamebryo (-_-)
