Game says my proc has 1.1gh when it doesnt?!?!?!

Ok the age of empires 3 demo says the minimum proc requirements are 1.4ghz when i have a athlon 1700 i think...but i know its a 1.4 ghz not 1.1ghz like its saying, is there a way i can check to see whats going on and fix it?
 
go into bios.

set FSB speed to 133mhz.

its at 100.

100x11 = 1.1ghz.

133x11 = 1.47ghz.

as in overclocking?.....would having a shuttle with its "heatpipe" heatsink thing be ok for that?
 
Its not overclocking, your cpu as it is now, is running "underclocked". The fsb should be at 133 stock.

its not overclocking unless youre setting the chip to a higher clockspeed than stock. in this case, you are simply setting the chip at what it SHOULD be at stock.
 
Once you understand how "clocking" works, it is a very short leap to "overclocking". Many that don't make the leap to overclocking due to "danger" don't even understand how it works.
 
Overclocking? What's that? Isn't my 3000+ supposed to run at 2.7GHz? :D

the 1700 is a 266 bus. 1.47/133 is 11. 100x11 is 1.1

its pretty clear whats going on here man :p
 
I had this same thing happen with a friend of mine. He is complaining about his XP and how it doesn't keep up anymore...

I went over to his place and found that he had been running his 2500+ at the 11*100 for over a year :)

Needless to say, i set it properly for him and voila...instant upgrade :p

*10? shouldve been 11... 166x11= 1.83ghz

typo, or an other instant upgrade? :D

Pfft! everyone knows that 3000+ = 3.0GHz
