I had a virus and had to reinstall windows. Everything is wroking fine now except any 3D game I play. Sometimes I can join a game and play for 2 minutes or so, and others I can't even pick a team yet and the game freezes and makes the sound loop and my moniter status light goes from green to orange. I have windows updated, directx 9.0c, and the latest ATi graphic drivers. Is the card over heating? It doesn't feel hot and never has before. Is my offbrand cheap aspire x-alien generic PSU crapping out on me? Should I try older versions of DX or Gfx drivers? My specs are in my sig, and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Did you re-install the MB drivers after your nuke and pave?

Try installing the newest version of them off of MSI's website.

What exactly is fast write? And I'll try to update the MB now.

Thanks.

I thought having VPU recovery on would help from having to restart? Also, I just got the latest drivers off of MSI's site and it's still shutting off on me. I'll try to turn off VPU recovery and fast write now.

One last thing. Before my reformat my temps were 30-37C, now they are staying at 41-43 idle.... Not sure what would have caused this...

My god I turned off fast write, disabled VPU Recovery, and updated all my drivers. And it still is freezing after a few seconds@#!@$ I am out of ideas to try. Please someone help me.

Ok, now after it has restarted from a freezing state, I got an error saying that the 9600 series graphic drivers may be the cause of the system instability. I'll go try to get older drivers and see if that helps.

Ok older drivers worked fine. But my game isn't as smooth as it was. What version of drivers are good that also have the overdrive feature?

you should get the omegadrivers from www.omegadrivers.net (or something like that). The guy who runs the site takes the catalysts as they come out and tweaks them (with way more optoins than they had originally).
