want to explore the realm of playing emu games on my htpc... particularly just GBA/SNES, N64 would be nice. what type of controller should I get? is there anything that's one-for-all? really don't want to use keyboard :(

TIA.

I used to use the logitech series back in the day. of course, for arcade emus, nothing beats the xarcade joysticks. xarcade also makes universal adapters for your console control pads. lets you use them on a PC or other consoles.

i use my xbox controller i just cut off the end of a usb cable and the end of the xbox dongle and soldered it together and wala.
*edit* you can also buy adapters for xbox and ps2 controllers and such if you didnt wanna do it yourself.

You can find adaptoids on lik-sang and ebay which let you plug in original SNES/N64/PS1 controllers into a usb port, which is the most authentic way for console emulation. They even work like a multitap so you can plug multiple controllers into one usb port.

I even saw radioshack selling a Playstation -> usb converter the other week which would probably work fine for most consoles (d-pad, 2x analog, face buttons + shoulders) and probably mame as well. The xbox controller-usb mod isn't that hard either.

i bought a pair of cheap logitech ps1 ripoff usb controllers. they work great (especially with psx). for only 10 bux you cant really go wrong.
