Game Boy "GB-80" case question

Hopefully this is the right forum in which to post.

About a week ago, I won an auction of a hard plastic carrying case for the Game Boy, the official rechargeable battery pack, a Vic Tokai Light Boy, and a few games:

Problem is, I can't for the life of me figure out how to properly store cartridges in the case's "storage rack":

The plastic separators are too far apart to snugly hold a cartridge, and the foam under the lid isn't thick enough to hold them in place. As a result, whenever I change the orientation
of the case, the cartridges just pile up at the "bottom".

Is there something I'm not seeing here? The only thing I can think of is that the cartridges are meant to be in the plastic cases included with many original Game Boy games.
That seems like a strangely specific requirement to secure them in the case, though.

I'm stumped

I want to say the games that go in there, have to be in their little plastic cases too. I've always seen these when I was little, but never got one. Kind of wish I had one now haha.

Slightly off-topic, but some of the games on Amazon (after looking for other pictures of the case) sell for absurd amounts. What's the deal here? Game Boy games prices skyrocket when I wasn't looking? I have like 90% of the ones that are retailing for a lot, in their original boxes as well!

yup, looks like they'd be a perfect fit for the plastic cases (which were awesome, btw).

I hear you! Years ago, my wife bought me Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Seasons. I never got around to playing them. A few months ago I was going through my closet and found them still sealed in plastic.

Looks like they're going for a pretty penny, too!

Shoot, I was hoping to avoid needing to buy those cases, since they tend to go for about $3 each.

Lucky! My video game career started with the Game Boy Color when I was too young to appreciate keeping the packaging for games.

As a result, the most valuable cartridge I have is probably Links Awakening DX, just because it's the recommended base for making a reprogrammable cartridge.
