Game Accelerator

Eh...looks fishy. I notice the games it was last updated for are pretty much all bargain bin titles.

It's not fishy. Includes optimisations for over 1000 games, with selectable video card, CPU, and sound card.

I'd like to see before and after results for using a program like this. I highly doubt it does anything useful.

Depends on what it optimizes. Sometimes when something's supposedly "optimizing" it's turning details down, lowering view distance, turning off vsync, removing hardware sound, etc.
While that might get more FPS, I find it hard to believe a program can really make a game run much faster without cutting corners or doing simple things that are there in the normal configuration.

The only decent game accelerator I know of is good hardware.

QFT.

I remember something like this many years ago. Some used a program similar to this to cheat in an MMO I used to play.

Removing services and background programs you don't need helps also....

blackviper for the win!

www.tweakguides.com FTW!

Other sites like BlackViper also do a good job of telling you where to go to optimize your system. These accelerator programs generally do the "surface" tweaks that can be done yourself. Doing them youself gives you a better understand of how your PC works as well as giving you the peace of mind knowing you did it yourself as opposed to some 3rd party app that's hackin' away at your system.

Why purchase a program such as this one when you can find .ini tweaks or .cfg tweaks to do it manaully. And then you don't have to worry about another company not supporting the program.

Out of curiosity I bought this today. Unless I just happened to hit the sweet spot on my computer without knowing it, I think it is making a difference. This is quite interesting, I wish Kyle or Steve would look into this program....

Well... perception is reality so if you think it's working then you got yourself a deal!

Also there's no rule that says you can't bench some numbers yourself and back up your purchase with some data. The [H] guys probably don't look at programs like these because... well... you can do everything yourself for free that the software can.

I digress but I hope it works out well for ya. :)

If it works for you - great. I don't see how it can do anything you can't do yourself...but it might be a lot easier than doing it all yourself. Rock on!

Programs such as this have been around for years...when you did a little deeper you find that many of them only make minor changes and often things you can easily do yourself. If it's free and you want to try it then fine...but don't pay for something like this.

Thanks for the link to tweakguides. I downloaded his free guide and have been reading through it. I like how he explains not only the changes he suggests but why he makes the suggestion and how certain parts of Windows works. I prefer to learn how to do it myself instead of downloading a program to make some minor changes, but that's a personal choice and others are free to do as they wish.

That's exactly why I recommend that site to people because he DOES explain what/why/how instead of just plopping out "tweaks" without reference. I was really impressed with his site when I first visited it about 2 years ago and since then it's retained its quality and core purpose.
