Galaxy S reception issues?

Is anyone else having reception issues with the Galaxy S? I'm on my second Vibrant in less than a week. Right now I have one bar and 111 dBm and 1 asu with the vast majority of the time sitting at 0 dBm and 0 asu. This is sitting on the table without me touching it. Is this a problem with the Galaxy?
 
Could be your service, you called them to make sure there aren't any outages? (assuming you had good reception before?)
 
Not that i'm aware of my captivate doesnt have any signal problems, I always have a good strong signal. I would say your probably holding it wrong...but since you aren't even touching it...Maybe you just got a bad batch of vibrant's?
 
Haven't dropped a single call on my Captivate, even in a place where it says I have horrible signal.
 
Im pretty sure its reporting wrong, it will display 0 bars and 0 db/asu, but I can still transfer data and make calls.
 
I havent dropped any calls either. Only reception issue I have is GPS taking 10 minutes to lock even with gps tweaks.

Yeah pretty sure this is it. Where as the iPhone would display too many bars this displays too little or none at all even when you have signal.
 
no reception issues for me on my vibrant. But then again as long as I can make calls and have good 3g speeds then I don't care if it says 0 bars or 4. It either works or it doesn't.
 
If it's not reporting right then my calls and data wouldn't be affected which I'm having trouble with. After searching Phandroid apparently I'm not alone.....I'll head back to T-mobile and try another phone and hope that's not a issue with Galaxy hardware.

What kind of DL speeds are you guys getting off 3G?
 
It could just be reception in your house, if you didn't have great reception before then it might actually drop calls/data. My Vibrant will fluctuate from full bars to 0 bars, but never drop a call or data. My old G1 would be full bars, so I have strong coverage at my house.

My area has been upgraded to HSPA+
 
att pa three bars 3g with captivate
2.6Mb/s down
.29Mb/s up
Never had any dropped calls or any connection issues
 
Galveston, Texas area 3 bars 3G. Still haven't dropped a call on this thing though.

249 kbps Up
 
Update: I swapped out for a new phone and it's partially solved. Reception seems to be a combination of T-mobile having problems around here and bad hardware. Other forums are reporting that it tends to want to switch over to Edge and that it's reporting signal wrong. I've only had one dropped call in an area that I don't get great reception to begin with so it looks like reception isn't great on this phone but it's not the cause of my problems.

DL speeds for me range from 4 Mb down to 300kb.
