Do you guys think that this card HERE
would be better than the BFG 6800GT OC?
Considering that Heatsink\Fan combo it loks very promising.
It has 2.0 ns Ram too, which is sweet.......

Also, on a sidenote do you think that I will be CPU limited, with my current 2800+?

Thanks :)

is it? :(
sigh ... I hope they will get it back soon.......

do you think it will be better than the BFG?

well .. 2.0ns isn't that sweet, as most 6800GT's have that (and most 6800 Ultras for that matter). 1.6ns is the sweet stuff.

I've been looking at getting a Gainward 6800 GT.

They make two versions of the GT: (1) the standard with 2 ns ram, and (2) their "Golden Sample" which has 1.6 ns ram and comes factory overclocked.

I was also interested in seeing how quiet it was with its custom cooling solution versus the standard reference design. Haven't come across anything regarding that, however.

I've heard though that you have to use their drivers with the Golden Sample for some reason or else you will have problems with the Golden Sample. Anyone have any experience with their golden samples and using it with NNidia's reference drivers vs. Gainward's own drivers?

Their drivers have an "Enhanced Mode" tab that you turn on for it to clock at the overclocked speeds. Otherwise it will come factory made at the default 350/1000 settings. You dont have to use their drivers, but if you dont you'll have to use coolbits or another overclocking program.

I am so tempted to get this card!

Problem is: I'm here in Florida till the 23rd of August and then will be going to Canada for University, and I'm wondering if I will have any problem in bringing the card with me on my laptop bag...x-ray machines, security...metal detectors............

any ideas?

that card is pretty steep ($455) considering it is not clocked as fast as the BFG card ($399). I would wait for a GT for $399 thats in stock and buy it. In terms of bringing it through airport security, it will be perfectly fine. X-rays and metal detectors cant hurt your video card anymore than they can hurt your testicles.

Hey Saint go with the GT. It ovclks real well and you can do another post on how to put on that GPU cooler that was hosing everyones Radion cards :D
I vote that as the best thread ever :)
How'd that turn out?

lol OPUS you remember that thread! :D

It scared the hell out of me that little VGA Cooler......
It turned out that I am using it as a papers holder...lol

How's your GT?
