Was all set to build the next rig... all the parts were ready to go... all I needed was my graphics card... today, waiting for me was a shiney new XFX 7900 GT... I was thrilled. The baby would be alive tonight.

Get everything unpacked... look it all over once and notice...

My Innovatek Graph-o-matic (rev3) isn't going to fit. The mounting holes are way too close together to fit mounting holes on the card. NOOOOOOOOOOO!

I found this Graph-o-matic bracket (bottom of the page) which looks like it's too small for the spacing on the card.

Any suggestions (other than use Danger Den or something) or does anyone know of an adaptor to make it work?

I'm going to fire this thing up tonight regardless and just leave the GPU air-cooled for the time being but would really like to get this working.

PLEASE HELP!
 
zip ties? Admittedly the opposite look of what German watercooling tries to achieve.
 
This is what I dislike about Innovatek. Unless you make a bracket (or have one made), you're really stuck with using their full card solutions for newer cards.

I want to use an XX-Flow CPU block, but I refuse to use those fiberclass clamps they make for the blocks and I know someone that has gone through a few brackets because they keep breaking under pressure.

My idea involves getting a thin square sheet of Alu in the shape and size the the area the block will go in (a few inches by a few inches), then I plan to cutout the insides tso I can see the block and make holes for where the screws are on the block. With longer screws and washers, I can mount the block to the new bracket (aka metal piece) and the bracket to the board through bolts.

You could do something similar with yours. Or you can try to return it since it is unused for something else.

Which is? They tend to use these crappy looking plastic screws for their blocks and they don't look pretty.
 
Hmmm... manufacture a new bracket out of Aluminum/Stainless or just buy the whole card cooler... Think I may have to look into the whole card cooler... by the time I buy materials and spend a week making the bracket I'll be in for more than buying a new block anyway.

Maybe I'll look at Alpha, see if they have anything...

Return is probably not an option since most companies that sell import parts don't want to deal with the returns (plus I bought it from Sharka and they've moved out of Innovatek - bought this block on clearance).

Anyone want to buy an Innovatek GPU block on the cheap? Heh.
 
Well, if you do go for an Alphacool block, Performance-PC's sell the GPX and that one is a great block. I loved the performance it got me on my 6800GT (OC'd to Ultra+) with my 'weak' HPPS pump.

Sharka has Alphacool's 7900 series full card cooler for $74! It's plexi over copper and not Alu, if you're not into Alu.

I really like my full card Innovatek block too though. I get great temps on my x1800XL, but I really like how the cooler looks too.

A simple mount could be 2 metal strips with holes in both ends, hook one up to the block and the other to the board with those plastic mounts they sell.
 
Hmmm... yet more things to consider now...

I'm really not much of a fan of the plexi-block look. I'll probably end up getting the Innovatek full card block... I'm just always hesitant after I bought one of those OTIS video card coolers - I bought the one I was *supposed* to use, turned out it didn't fit and I had to use a different one because my card wasn't exactly up to reference design. Now I'm afraid to lay down $100 on something that probably can't be returned and may not fit if whoever built XFX's cards decided to move a screw 2 mm to the left.

Wish I could find a schematic of Innovatek's mounting hole positions, measurements, height/clearances, etc to be sure I wasn't throwing away more money on this card.

Still... gotta think about this one... probably wont order until next week (love pay day)... anyone selling anything or have suggestions? :D

I ended up going with the Innovatek whole-card cooler... couldn't be happier.

Looks good, (so far) performs great.

I'm a happy camper.
