GA-8KNXP Issues, odd

Hey all, I have a GigaByte 8KNXP Motherboard, REV 2.0, with the latest BIOS. I have a problem with my SATA and IDE. Basically, I bought the Artic Silencer 5 to go onto my X800GTO, but that cooler is so big, it topples over my SATA connectors. So I assumed i could just switch to the SATA connector with the most room. Nope, won't work.
I have 1 SATA 120gig Seagate Barracuda, and an IDE 120Gig seagate barracuda. I have the IDE drive connected to my Primary IDE Channel hooked into the SLAVE connector. The CD drives are on the secondary channel, hooked into both MASTER and SLAVE. I tried reformatting to get proper sata drivers (hitting F6) that didn't work. I have no idea what's going on and im getting real frustrated. Do I have anthing hooked up wrong? Driver I may be missing? ANYTHING? please help before i punch someones costume. (lol)
