G5 tracking stinks???

I just was down at pcclub and they had the G5 laser mouse for 39.99, whereas the local BB had it for 79.99. Needless to say, I picked it up and took it home. I had a 510 mouse before this one, and all I can say is that the 510 never ever EVER skipped, no matter how fast I would drag it across the mouse pad.

The G5 is a horror story. I can barely move it faster then a crawl before it skips, like the first generation optical mouse, it sucks ass. Every review that I've read says that this mouse is one of the best money can buy, but this thing tracks like a hambeast. Sure, when its moving slow, the accuracy is great, but move it faster then a crawl and it stops tracking. Is there something wrong with my G5? I've reinstalled all of my logitech software and the problem is still present, no matter what DPI I'm running at.

yes it is safe to say something is effed up. I personally own two g5's both work beautifully. I previously owned an MX510, and an MX700. G5 beats it hands down. I say take it back, get it switched out or something

I'm really glad you found out what was wrong, but I still have to ask. WTF is a hambeast?

w00t, that bios update made it about 100 times better then what it was, and it only skips when I move it REALLY fast now. The mouse is actually usable for me now, so the real testing can begin.

BTW, a hambeast is a really fat person. Basically, they have thighs that look like a full ham, or they're very fat. In other words, they're porkers.

1. hambeast

Def; Hambeast is one of those words which may have originated with Something Awful. It refers to people who are porcine, that is, piggishly fat, with arms and legs like hams."Look at this picture and tell me Fud isn't a hambeast. How much does he eat in a day?!"

I had the same problem with the mouse and my mousepad (fUnc surface 1030). When I first got the mouse, I was using the more textured side of the mousepad and noticed it didn't track well. I tried using the other, smooth side of the mousepad and haven't had any problems in the past 2 months or so.
