Hi,

I normally play BF4 with some of my friends almost everynight. I mostly play FPS although sometimes I would play RPG but main focus is FPS. The problem started couple of nights ago when everything worked fine and I set my G35 on my desk as I normally do. Next night, I pick up G35 and put it on to play BF4. Maybe 5-10 minutes in to playing it, I've noticed that mic isn't working. Lost night of playing and venting from work :( So I started plugging it in to different PC and laptop and still no mic. I figured it's dead although I never had something go out like that.

After researching for new headset, I came across ModMic and saw good things about it. Since it's just mic that is dead, I figured I would buy that and stick it on G35. The question came up while I was thinking of that maybe little down the road I'll get decent headphone and use ModMic that I'm going to get instead of sticking with G35+ModMic or another headset. I started testing cheap but pretty decent headphone that I had but immediately noticed issue with it. Everything sounds good and no static till I actually start to play BF4. I'm thinking it's because of onboard sound from MSI Z87-G45 Gaming which I believe people also recommended to use decent sound card with Modmic.

After long story, here is actual question. I read good thing about headphone+Fiio E10 but there's no input for mic which I'm assuming I'm going to have white noise without it. Also, I'm thinking about giving my motherboard to my brother and get MATX motherboard and could SLI later so sound card is not an option. Is there any option for me? Do I have to stick with ATX? I do not want to go too far with as far as price goes. Something similar to E10 with mic input? External sound card? I heard mixed review about it as far as gaming goes.

Thank you

There is a usb soundblaster. Never used it but some people seem to like it.
