I was wondering is it possible to get an 802.11g internal wireless card for my G3 iBook? I went to the Apple store today to buy a wireless card, and was told that the current Airport Extreme Card only works on G4 Mac's.

check ebay for airport (NOT airport extreme) card. be prepared to pay $100 or more.

those are your only choice internally. most USB adapters will work as well, but be sure that you check that out before you buy.

erm... airport = 802.11b. i dont know if the 54mb/s and lower range are important to you. if they are, you'll need to find a usb adapter.

Apple doesn't make an 802.11g internal card for the G3 series iBooks...IIRC I saw something from a different forum where they said some other card fit the old Airport slot and was 802.11g and not 802.11b so who knows...the official answer is no there is nothing internal you can get

The g3 ibook only has usb 1.1 and he wanted internal. An external G card would be a waste(other then the fact it is cheaper). As far as the viao card goes it is the same card from what I've read although you can't normally find them for much less then a real airport card. Last time I saw them they were going for like over 80 bucks. I remember seeing them on ebay a few months ago for over 100. At that point it is the same price as the airport card so why bother.
