I just bought a new core i7 920 CPU, ASUS P6T Deluxe Mobo, and 6 Gigs of G Skill 1600 RAM.

The problem I am having is that the motherboard defaults the RAM to 1066 instead of 1600. When I try to change it to 1600 in the BIOS the PC wont POST. Therefore I have to restart the machine and go with 1066. I have tried adjusting the timings but I don't honestly know exactly which ones to change besides the first couple of options.

My RAM is rated at 9-9-9-24

Thanks in advance

Make sure the DIMM voltage is set to 1.5v and that you have the latest BIOS from ASUS.

Just updated the BIOS to the latest from ASUS

Tried DRAM voltages 1.5-1.6 and it didn't work. Even tried manually entering the timings and still a no go.

Bad RAM?

I'm running 12 gigs of 1600 at 1600 on the P6T deluxe. My only thought is that its the bios - make sure you've updated it. It should work fine.

EDIT: you beat me! Run a memtest.
