Hey guys, I have been noticing on other forums the past few days that people who have recieved core 2 duos that had a batch # of q807 have insanley low vid's and can overclock well with lower vcore, but have higher then normal temps. I wanted to just give you guys a heads up. I just got in an e8500 from newegg yesterday and the vid is 1.050 and can do 4ghz (8x500) on 1.23 volts. The problem is the idle temp is around 45c and it maxs around 68-70c on full load.

are you applying too much thermal paste? that can lead to overheating as there is too much room for the heatsink to properly function.

ok guys, not trying to start anything but obviously being on these boards for this long I kind of have some background knowledge on how to apply thermal paste. Anyhow on some other boards, people have noticed this as well and honestly the temps are still within the thresholds.

Thanks for the heads up. Thats some crazy low voltage. However, I've noticed my temps are reported lower in Vista than in XP, using CoreTemp (the new one, that claims support for Vista 64-bit). I'm too lazy to research this, though, lol.

cool beans, yeah there isnt anything wrong with the chips. Though I am deciding on keeping this or selling it and getting a q9450.
