i have WinXP, FX5700 Ultra 128mb, 5303 drivers, Abit NF-7S V2.0 mobo, AMD m2400, Kingston HyperX pc3500x512, Tt 420w PSU,

when i goto run 3DMark03 or Aquamark3, my screen goes black and then my monitor goes into suspend mode

a few times my computer has restarted and a few other times the test runs through (with black screen)
and my marks have been in the 3,000 range for 3dmark03

i have no clue why this is happening? this is a brand new system and i have tried new and older drivers
all settings are pretty much defaulted. so if anyone has any ideas, please let me know?

thanks

So when you're saying that everything's basically defualt.....that means that you haven't overclocked the system at all???

I'm just asking 'cus it's easy to make my comp do that EXACT same thing by pushing it a bit to far.....and running 3DMark. Let me know.

yeah, everything has been stock but i have tried several different
things and have now bumped stuff up and using following settings
but still getting the same problems?

vagp to 1.6v,
vcore to 1.7v,
vdimm to 2.7v.
cpu/fsb 6/6
cpu interface to enabled,
memory timings to expert 11-3-3-2.5,
agp aperature to 256mb,
both spread spectrums to disabled,
cpu throttling to disabled.

Have you tried the last resort for a lot of people? Formatting.....

If this turns out to be some kind of hardware issue then obviously formatting won't fix it but you never know. I never rule out any possibilities until I've actually tried it, I suggest you do the same and go about this with common sense and an open mind.

yeah, that will be my last resort if nothing else works!

but this is a fresh install of everything the past week.
brand new pc. the video card is used however, but if the card
was bad, would i have anything or just a black screen all the time?

i go in and play rtcw and get between 35-90fps
that just seems very low doesnt it? i get that on my old 1gb system with a geforce 3

Yeah, that DOES seem pretty low, have you double and triple checked your control panel to make sure you don't have any OpenGL/D3D setting backwards??? RTCW should be running nearly that slow if everything is setup properly.

D3D setting is...
mipmap detail level = best image quality

max system memory for PCI mode textures = 63mb
enable fog table emulation is checkmarked

Open GL settings...

disable support for enhanced cpu instruction sets = unchecked
enable conformant opengl texture clamp behavior = unchecked
default color depth (for textures) = use desktop color depth
buffer flipping mode = auto-select
vertical sync = on by default

What AA/AF???

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think it should be getting nearly as low as you said it had been.....there HAS to be something up. Try disabling vsync completely. I know that might sound dumb but give it a shot. i know that when I have vsync on in Jedi Academy it actually gets a lot slower then it does when vsync is off. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense but the games are based of the same engine so you never know. ;)

i just reinstalled everything again and i can run wolfenstein
enemy territory and i get better fps now, but i also installed
farcry but when i run it i get that suspended monitor problem
again like i did with 3dmark03.

i also just reinstalled 3dmark03 and having the same problem!

this is an older monitor but that shouldnt have any effect should it?

i can run the 3dmark03 demo fine, but i cant run a benchmark??

any other ideas?

BFG FX5700Ultra 128mb
nvidia forceware 5664

thanx

AA/AF are application controled
