I have a GeForce FX5700 128mb eVGA and im usin the newest (53.03) drivers. Have had some problems in the past with installing games and such, but it kind of leveled out. Tried to install Black Hawk Down tonight, my machine restarted on me during the install. On the bootup, my screen looked like a crappy 2mb card that had gone on the fritz.

Restarted it and its fine. Windows Error Reporting showed me the path to a log for device debugging. This is what it said:

What in the crap does this mean? Faulty card? Get other drivers? Whats up with this?!

Boot into Safe Mode (tap the F8 key to be able to boot into Safe Mode), uninstall your video card drivers and reboot. After you reboot, use something like Detonator Destroyer to wipe out any traces of your video driver, and reinstall the best available drivers for your card. With an nVidia based card, I think your best bet is the latest "Forceware Drivers", they can be DL'ed from www.nvidia.com I had a similar problem a while back and did what I just explained, and the problem went away. Hope that helps. :D
