Putting together a new machine soon and it has been some time since I have done it. That being the case I dunno which HSFs to look at these days and nothing of the new GPU cooling issues.

Here is what I have as a rough sketch for my system, including case. If you think there is a better case I can get for my buck especially if it will help cooling please say that too.

I am not looking to overclock, just a stable system.

A64 FX53
K8N Neo2 Platinum
2x 512 Sticks of Corsair XMS 2-2-2 PC3200
eVGA nVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra
Seagate 160GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
Lian-Li PC-65b (With Panaflos)

Would that be ok if I am not looking to overclock with the base HSF for the CPU? How about the Video card?

Also what kind of PSU should I be looking at getting, everyone I see who has a system like that is getting a antect 500W+ PSU, that accurate?

Also how would the case hold up?

The regular HSF solution will work in a stock application, but you can always get a better solution. The Swiftech MCX6400-V paired with this 92mm Enermax Variable Speed Ball Bearing Fan will work nicely. Low noise when you want it, or maximum cooling performance when you need it. You're going to want those front Panaflos blowing inward, the rear blowing out, and the top fan blowing out.

As for the PSU, I'd look at the Antec Neopower 480W. Quiet, strong rails, and its ATX 2.0 ready.

Thank you for the quick response. :)

Yes I was just looking at the reviews for the MCX6400-V and it looks like I will go that way.

Thankyou for the PSU and fan alignments also. :)

Looking at Newegg I notice they have a Antec 550w True PSU for like 8 dollars less. Could you explain to me the difference if possible. :)

I'll quickly summarize (someone correct me if I'm wrong anywhere):

1) Its not ATX 2.0 ready, meaning that True550 only has one +12V rail (the Neopower has two), no six-pin VGA power connectors (for future use), and isn't BTX ready, among other things.
2) No form of PFC... not exactly a big selling point, but the Neopower's Active PFC is nice.
3) Higher efficiency.

The 480W rating will handle all your components without a problem.

Ok great, got my shopping list ready and going to be heading to a huge local computer store called Fry's or something (never been there) today to check prices there. Hopefully I can get this thing built sometime this week. :)
