I am currently in the process of speccing out a new multi-processor workstation. I have gone to most of the usual suspects (Dell, Alienware, etc.) but I am looking for some alternatives that come with the FX 4400 available. The current target specs are as follows
Dual-processor (currently looking dual 3.2 Xeon's)
4-gigs of ram
FX4400 or equivelent
The workstation will be used to run GoCAD and some scientific visualization tools that are pretty heavy on the graphics side of things. The actual processor speed isn't as critical as the cache size and memory bandwidth (hence not using a dual core P4).
Right now i keep coming up with a price in the 6000 to 7000 range, hoping to get that down into the 5000 area if possible. Any suggestions on maybe a supplier who can put and X2 together with a FX4400 and a motherboard that support 4+ gigs of ram?
