Hey, i'm looking for a cheap card that will hold up on everyday basic use. I am looking for something upto date while cheap at the same time, while searching around I saw that the GeForce FX5200 has DirectX 9 and OpenGL1.4. I've herd bad about these cards but I am asking if they are actually that bad and since they wont ever be used for gaming are they worth it?

Well, if you aren't gaming, then onboard video is enough. Besides, in your sig you have a Ti4200 listed. If you aren't gaming with that, both the Ti4200 and the 5200 is a waste of your money.
 
I agree that if you aren't gaming, you have no need for a dedicated graphics board. The onboard video on the NF2 boards is about as fast, and sometimes faster, than the 5200 is anyway. Just make sure you have an available AGP slot incase you want or need to add dedicated graphics in the future.

What would be a reliable video card for everyday use but not too old in technology? I was thinking of the ATI 9200?

Well, the 9200 would be fine for 2d, but if you're only doing 2d, I see no reason to not get a Matrox card. You truely don't realize how much better it is till you use one. A G550 or even a newer one of the cutdown parhelias for about $100 would be a great deal for 2d work.
