FX-8150 OC HELP!

Hello fellow Overclockers,
I have been tweaking my 8150 for about a month now and I have a few questions.

1.) When setting the voltage in the BIOS to 1.60v, in CPU-Z v1.59 it shows 1.50v at full load, which one is correct?

2.) I can pass a lot of benchmarks and game for hours but when running Prime95 I get a black screen after about 5-7 minutes, no failed workers.
What would cause a black-screen-of-death? Too low voltage setting?
It seems like when the voltage creeps up to 1.5 (via CPU-Z) after a few minutes is when it likes to black screen.

CPU Core: 4.725ghz
CPU Voltage: BIOS says 1.60 / CPU-Z says 1.50 (at full load)
Multiplier: 22.5
Bus: 210
NB: Auto
NB V: 1.2
NBHT: Auto
NBHT V: 1.25
DRAM: 1680mhz
DRAM V: 1.65 (factory setting)

Antec 1200 (4 intake fans + 2 exhaust fans + push/pull on 920 that exhausts air)
Ambient temp: 72F
CPU temp when I get black screen: 55c-58c
 
cpu-z is showing the vdroop but technically none of them are correct without a volt meter. but either way cpu-z is what you want to go by, not what the static voltage option is in the bios.

look and see if your bios has a LLC(load line calibration) option. either turn it on or turn it off which ever is the opposite of what it is now. if there isn't one then your VRM's can't handle the power output.
 
Up the fsb more and lower the multiplier, BD has problems with high multipliers (just too much latency to the fsb I suppose).

Lower the ram multipier to take ram instabilities (if any) out of the picture.

Prime95 stress testing adds a dramatic amount of heat, watch temperatures of the VRMs if you can, your cpu maybe cool with that 920 but those VRMs supplying the current to that cpu maybe not and are just darn right toasting/sizzling on your mb. Plus if you are using the blend option for stress testing you are also testing the ram. If you lower your ram speeds, try lowering the dram voltage as well for that phase of testing, this will put less stress on the memory controller in the cpu. Taking the ram out of the picture until you get a good feel what the cpu can do.

I didn't have to up the voltages with increase fsb speeds, if anything I could decrease them. At 4.8ghz I run around 1.42v but when the cpu is loaded it will go up to about 1.45v due to settings in the bios, a positive voltage droop. You may also find a little more stability if you go like 250fsb, memory multiplier set for 1333 ram which will give you 1599mhz speed on your DDR1600, HT at 2500 and NB at 2500. The clocks are more in sync and less latency between the different components (CPU, NB, memory).

When you placed you nice water cooler on your cpu you also took away the fan that blew through the heat sink and also cooled the VRMs. I use an ASUS program that monitors board temperatures, I have a MSI 880G board which has something similar but not sure if it can monitor VRM temperatures. I do recommend you temporily place a fan that will cool the VRMs if you can.
 
Blah, I just decided to stick with 4.620 x 210.0 with ram at 1680mhz, I can get it pretty damn stable, definitely stable enough for gaming.
This MOBO just doesn't seem like it's capable of the higher voltages needed for 4.7ghz+ and it really isn't liking the higher fsb(220+).
I think my next mobo is going to be Asus and I'm gonna pick up some 1866 mem for more flexibility.
If PileDriver turns out to be some kind of a winner, I might just pick up a new CPU/MOBO combo altogether... I think 4.6 will hold me over for a while.

I've found 4.6 to work rather good and pretty much use that speed myself knowing I have speed to spare if need be. I was afraid that the 890 boards while supporting BD they may also lack some of the features that help OCing. Asus is a very good choice and least from my standpoint. Their load line calibration or voltage droop options really does make a huge difference if used.
