fx 6100 oc help

Maybe you can, maybe you can't. Nothing is a guarantee when overclocking.

Which Revision of that board do you have?
It is this model, correct? http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3908#dl
I see that the first Revisions had no heatsink in the VRM area but later versions do.
Which do you have?

Here is a review of the FX-6200. http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Proces...er-Refresh/Overclocking-and-Power-Consumption
It is the same basic cpu as the FX-6100 but runs faster. Note how much power it uses when they overclocked it to 4.5 Ghz.
Even at stock speeds it used a bit more power than a Phenom II 980 and 1100T so you might not want to go very far beyond stock FX-6200 speeds when overclocking. It might be too much for you board.

I want to know if I can push my fx 6100 to higher clocks then 4.0ghz.

I use a gigabyte 907A-d3 motherboard with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817152036&Tpk=730w&IsVirtualParent=1 as my psu.

I have a h80i cpu cooler and want to know what settings do i change in bios to get more ghz?

I have my FX-6100 running stable at 4.2 but like others have said it is very hit and miss in the world of overclocking. I think I could push mine further if my motherboard had support for load line calibration.

Its an unlocked processor, just change the multiplier.

turn off whatever else you are using to overclock, go into bios and bump the multiplier up a couple spots, see if it's stable.

I would imagine you can hit higher than 4ghz pretty easy. But you don't want more ghz, you want more mhz, go slow and don't burn your shit up.

I went as far as 4.7 however it was not stable playing Skyrim back it down to 4.3 and we are good. I moved the clock in the bios. Just that simple. So is possible
