I read the article posted on the front page, but which should I get, the 5900XT or the 9600XT?

5900nu, if you can afford the small difference between that and a 5900xt. Otherwise the 5900xt.

5900nu has slightly more performance than a 5900xt, which has a lot more performance than a 9600xt.

5900nu OCs more, if I'm not mistaken. I took mine from 400/850 to 464/980.

5900xt

almost as fast as a 9700pro and its about $180 if you look hard enough

why does everything and its mother have an 'xp', 'xlp', 'xt' in the name? i just hope this all doesnt go the street fighter route so we end up having windows x-zero, geforce 84000 zero plus xt... etc.

that said id get the geforce, but in the long run i think youd be more pleased if you spent some more and got a 9800pro. the geforce cards are nice but dont handle the AA and AF as gracefully as the ati counterparts, albeit ati's counterparts are alittle more $

Dang, does that mean I should RMA the 9600xt I just bought and get a 5900xt?

How good is the 2D looks on the nvidia cards?

Whether you RMA or not is up to you, but a 5900xt/5900se (same thing, just different naming) is a lot better performer than a 9600xt. Here's some comparisons:

Bah, okie. Damn these newfangled technologies.

I'll get the 5900nu. Are there any brand preferences?
