I am not a hardcore gamer. All I want is a card that will play BF2. Will the FX 5700 Ultra do the trick. I found one on ebay that will only cost me around a little less than $55. Any help?

Nope, you might get by at the lowest res and quality. I would just pay a few more bucks and get the 6600gt or 9800 pro.

I had a 5700le 256mb that could run bf2 at 1024x768 on low everything, except textures on high at a playable framerate(30fps).

all Geforce 5 series will set on low in BF2

i sold my Geforce 6800 Ultra OC AGP to friend for 120$ :p

i had an fx 5500 and could smoothly run bf2 @ 1024x768 with settings on low. but imo, even if your not a hard core gamer but wanna play bf2 then get a 6000 series card. unless you just can't afford it.

so will a 6200 will do better than a 5700 ultra or a 5900 ultra? What does it mean that settings will be on low. Does that mean it wont play on full screen?

It'll play fullscreen, but the meaning of "fullscreen" will be changed.

If you're using an LCD screen, you might be naturally able to run a display resolution of 1024x768 pixels (or larger mind you, maybe even 1280x1024 px or bigger). Running a game such as BF2 at that resolution requires alot of processing power. Instead, that video card might be able to render the game at 800x600 pixels and stretch the rendered image to the full size of your screen. So, you won't be running in a window, and you won't see a black area around the moving images in game, but it won't be *true* fullscreen (true fullscreen is also called "running at the display's native resolution").

Also, the image *quality* will be severely reduced. I mean, the characters in game will look rigid and sharp... Not round and humanlike. Textures will be lower quality, so the surrounding environment will be fairly ugly too. Honestly, buying that card now would be an aweful plan, both for gaming and economically. Get a 6000 level card, especially the 6800, and you'll be able to play almost anything you want fairly well. It's expensive now, but you *won't* regret it!

wow, you're a very generous friend! i'm also pretty quick to either sell cheap or give away good stuff to friends when they need it and i don't. that's what friends are for.
