I have a question about where best to continue. Right now i have 4 years of experience as a network/system administrator for the military. I currently have my CCNA and am working on my CCNP, would it be useful for me to get any of the comptia certs, or some other general certs to round out my resume? Or would you recommend another course of action.
 
plan on staying in networking? If so, no.

Microsoft certs could help on the sys admin side of things.

VMWare and Citrix stuff is probably good to get about now too, with how virtualizing is becoming all the craze.

But for where you're at, CompTIA would, imho, be a waste of time and money.
 
CompTIA certs for your level of work, and intended direction, would be a waste honestly. Unless you plan on moving back down to a lower level where you support end users more, prob not worth getting CompTIA stuff.

If you feel compelled, having Network+ and Security+ wouldn't be BAD options as they are very industry accepted - but your CCNA pretty much blows both out of the water I'd say.

I'd focus on the MCSE route from Microsoft and get yourself squarely certified on Domain/Sever level activities before anything else.
